Tromso – The Place To Splurge

Unfortunately, Tromso is quite an expensive destination. While some other sites label certain hotels as “midrange” or “budget” options, it’s important to note that it’s all relative. I don’t personally agree that any Tromso hotel fits those decriptions.

You can get a dorm bed at Tromso CoCo Apartments for about $85 per night, but I can’t find it within me to actually call that “budget”.

Sure, traveling to places like Southeast Asia may have skewed my perspective a bit. But it’s hard to consider an $85 dorm bed “budget” when I’ve had an entire private bungalow with balcony overlooking the bay AND free breakfast in Thailand for only $35 per night.

I have an even harder time calling places like Comfort Hotel Xpress Tromso “budget”. A nice, but standard room without any additional amenities here is priced at about $200 per night.

Sorry Tromso. I absolutely love you and 100% think you’re worth visiting, but you do come with a pretty price tag. My advice, just embrace it. This is the place to splurge, and there are some great hotels to do this at.

Do Plan In Advance

While you’re planning your trip, don’t forget to check out the best Tromso day trips for some incredible experiences to complement your perfect stay. Book your day trips as early as you can, even at the same time as booking your hotel if possible. An increase in accommodation options in Tromso has led to a shortage of tours.

As Tromso has grown in popularity, that also means the best hotels can become fully booked in the high season. If possible, book your hotels and tours early before they fill up.

Now, let’s uncover the top spots where luxury meets adventure in Tromso!

Dynamic Pricing

The prices mentioned in this post are for informational purposes only and are subject to change.

In the travel industry, hotels often use dynamic pricing features to adjust their room rates based on demand. This means that the price of a room may be higher or lower depending on when you are searching and booking. For example, during peak season hotel prices may be higher due to the increase in demand from tourists.

On the other hand, during low season, prices may be lower as there is less competition for rooms. It is important to keep this in mind when booking your stay to check for any current deals or promotions that can help you save money.

Don’t leave for Norway before you’ve done these things

Doing these two things has the potential to save you money, and some added peace of mind and safety.

Get an eSIM

There are many options when it comes to phone coverage for your international trips. I find that using Airalo’s eSIM is the best option.

It negates the risk of of losing your physical sim card if you get a travel sim in Norway. I know I was always worried I would lose mine, plus they are annoying to try and get out of your phone.

Plus, newer versions of phones are going eSIM only now. So, depending which model of phone you have, regular sim cards might not even be an option.

Using your home phone plan can sometimes be expensive, especially if you end up paying roaming charges.

Airalo offers an affordable solution. Just select the option for Norway on the website, the size of data you want, then download it, and finally activate it before your trip. Or, if you’re traveling to more countries you can choose a regional option that will work everywhere you go.

They even have regional or worldwide eSIMs that allow you to travel easily between countries without switching anything. I love it and use it for all my trips now!

You’ll love Airalo because…

  • Affordable coverage options to keep you connected
  • no roaming charges
  • No losing your physical sim card

Get travel medical insurance

Don’t make the mistake of assuming your home health coverage will cover you when abroad, especially when taking an adventure tour. Special activities and sports often need added coverage.

Instead, get a travel medical policy with Safety Wing. Not only can you make sure you’re covered for any and all adventures, but you can have peace of mind and coverage for any travel delays and cancelations too.

Get covered just for Norway for the duration of your trip, or if this is part of an extended trip you can get monthly global coverage.

The best part is they’re super affordable! Check out the rates and get your coverage here.

Happy exploring, and remember to Be Free and Travel! 🌏✈️
